PRONE TO WANDER
Feature Screenplay | Coming of Age, Drama/Comedy
“In my room, the world is beyond my understanding;
But when I walk I see that it consists of three or four
hills and a cloud.” -Wallace Stevens.
PRONE TO WANDER is a landscape narrative set during the heat of an American summer when Lua (12) falls hard into adolescence after the new Pastor and his family move into town and shake things up enough to reveal the cracks beneath the surface of her Southern Baptist community. Told over seven ritualistic Sundays, Lua navigates young love and sexuality with conflicting lessons from her family, her neighbors, and her church. Lua and her neighbors’ stories explore modern spirituality and sex, class disparity, femininity, and generational secrets.
