JASMIN TENUCCI

Jasmin Tenucci has written, directed and edited films in Brazil, Iceland, Pakistan, and the United States.  She directed several short films that travelled festivals around the world including her most recent one, AUGUST SKY (2021), won Special Mention of the Jury at the Cannes 2021 Official Selection.  She also served as editor on JOYLAND, which won the Jury Prize for Un Certain Regard at Cannes in 2022 and 2023 The Spirits Award Best Foreign Film.

 

Beyond her work as a director, Jasmin has years of experience in the Brazilian television industry and has written for numerous episodic series.  She co-developed and wrote on Globo’s acclaimed series, AS FIVE (2020), and wrote a soon-to-be-announced Netflix series that will premiere in June 2022.  She is also adapting the novel  “Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet” into a feature for Sundance winner and Oscar-nominated director Bing Liu and producer Diane Quon and the Brazilian novel “The Pediatrician” into a feature for Anonymous content Brazil. 

 

Jasmin received a BA in Film from São Paulo University and an MFA in Writing and Directing from Columbia University Film School, where she also taught undergrad directing.

 

 

Currently, she lives in São Paulo, where she is developing two feature films that she will direct: PURPLE COTTON, based on her short of the same name; and THE SMALLEST WHALE IN THE WORLD, which won the 2017 Alfred P. Sloan Development Grant.
