Markus Wulf was born in Germany and studied directing for fiction and nonfiction film at the International Film School in Cologne.  Over the past ten years, he's worked consistently as a writer and director in film, theatre, opera and puppetry.  In 2016, he moved to New York with scholarships from the German National Academic Foundation and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to study screenwriting and directing in the MFA program at Columbia University, School of the Arts.


His short films have won awards at national and international film festivals.  In 2014, he was nominated for the German National Short Film Award with his piece A Fairytale With a Completely Imagined Ending.  His work often focusses on humor as a device for questioning ideologies and the representations of power.
